West Indies defeated New Zealand by 13 runs to register their third consecutive win in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024.

The co-hosts have booked their place in the Super 8 stage. They restricted the Kiwis to 136/9 in 20 overs. Kane Williamson’s side couldn’t get going while chasing 150, with only Glenn Phillips making useful contribution with the bat. He scored 40 runs off 33 balls.

For the Windies, Alzarri Joseph (4 wickets) and Gudakesh Motie (3 wickets) were instrumental with the ball.

Earlier, West Indies were in big trouble before Sherfane Rutherford played the best knock of the World Cup.

He went after the rivals in the last phase of the contest, scoring an unbeaten 68 runs off 39 deliveries. He hit 6 sixes and 2 fours and his runs came at a strike rate of 174.35.

New Zealand have lost two back-to-back games.
