Delhi: India's great batsman Sunil Gavaskar has praised Team India's star fast bowler Arshdeep Singh, who is garnering a lot of praise for his brilliant bowling in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. Speaking on Star Sports after India's win against the United States of America (USA), 74-year-old Sunil Gavaskar said, “I think like Bumrah, he can also be a very good bowler in red-ball cricket, because if he can spin the white ball so well, imagine what he can do with the red ball, so I think the selection committee should look at him as an option for the red-ball game as well.”

Gavaskar said that Arshdeep's ability to swing the ball both ways is similar to Jasprit Bumrah. He further said, “Arshdeep pitches the ball at the right length, targets the stumps for right-handed batsmen and keeps it away from left-handed batsmen. He has the ability to bowl at the right length for both right-handed and left-handed batsmen. Against USA, Arshdeep was not focusing on bowling yorkers, but on maintaining the length of that ball. His bowling temperament is excellent.”
