The International Cricket Council (ICC) finalized the venues for the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 in September 2023. The Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York was allotted several matches. However, the dismantling of this stadium has started after the conclusion of the match between India and USA on June 12.

Due to the limited time, the cricket drop-in pitches prepared by the Adelaide Turf International were used m. In December 2023, the pre-grown pitch trays were transported to Florida, where the warmer climate was more suitable to the tracks than New York. Finally, the pitches were moved to New York at the end of April for the matches.

On June 12, India defeated the USA by 7 wickets at the venue in New York. The pitches were unfavorable for the batters with uneven bounce that greatly benefited the bowlers.

India set a new record for the highest successful run chase at this venue, chasing down a target of 111 with 10 balls remaining. This pitch had previously drawn criticism after Sri Lanka were dismissed for a paltry 77 runs, and South African batters also found scoring difficult on the surface.

Jasprit Bumrah’s impressive bowling restricted Pakistan to 113/7 while chasing 120. Similarly, Bangladesh, were unable to chase down a 114-run total in New York.

Following their three matches in New York, the Indian team will travel to Florida to play their final group match against Ireland at the Central Broward Regional Park Stadium Turf Ground.
