India will play their Super 8 stage matches of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 in the West Indies. Former India bowler Piyush Chawla said Kuldeep Yadav would be the preferred spinner in the next round. Yadav was benched in the first three matches against Ireland, Pakistan, and the United States of America. The management went in with Ravindra Jadeja and Axar Patel.

The pitches at the Nassau County Stadium in New York were tough for the batters, with pacers taking wickets. To make the batting line-up strong and long, Hardik Pandya, Shivam Dube, Axar, and Jadeja were given a chance in the playing XI.

Kuldeep and Yuzvendra Chahal have also traveled with the team.

“The pitches in New York were dicey, and the spinners were not used that much. However, the Super 8 stage will be different, and the spinners will come into play. Our spinners will play a major role,” he said.

Chawla picked up Kuldeep as the first-choice spinner despite Chahal taking more wickets in the IPL 2024. “I think only one spinner will play, and Kuldeep will be our number one tweaker. You have Axar and Jadeja who can score runs with the bat, so I feel Kuldeep will get the nod.”

Piyush claimed that India played well on the tricky tracks in New York. “The tracks were tricky but India were clinical. They defended 119 runs against Pakistan. The performance of the Indian bowlers was treat to watch. Jasprit Bumrah and Hardik Pandya didn’t allow the batters to settle down.”
