Despite Virat Kohli‘s slow start in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024, including a golden duck dismissal against the USA, Indian all-rounder Shivam Dube remains unconcerned about his teammate’s form. Kohli departed without troubling the scorers as he was caught by the USA’s wicket-keeper on Saurabh Netravalkar’s delivery.
Kohli arrived in the States, riding high on a sensational IPL 2024 campaign, in which he piled up 741 runs in 15 innings and claimed the coveted Orange Cap. However, his underwhelming scores of 1, 4, and 0 in his first three innings have sparked concerns about his form in the tournament.
In his conversation with PTI, Dube brushed off concerns about Virat Kohli’s recent dip, stating the star batter will fire in the upcoming games.
“I can’t talk anything about Virat Kohli. He’s a world-class cricketer. While he has experienced a dip in performance, he will bounce back strongly with a hundred in the upcoming matches. We all know how he bats,” stated Dube.
In 28 innings, Kohli has amassed 1,146 runs at a remarkable strike rate of 130.52, boasting an outstanding average of 67.41 and 14 half-centuries. Moreover, Kohli was also awarded the Player of the Tournament award in in the T20 World Cup in 2014 and 2016.
Despite Virat Kohli’s lack of big contributions, India‘s smooth progress through the group stage is a positive sign – an indication that the star batter may once again rise to the occasion as the tournament reaches its crucial business end.
