Lucknow: The decision to make veteran batsman Virat Kohli open the innings in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 has proved wrong so far. Virat has scored only 5 runs while opening in 3 matches. In such a situation, many veteran players of the cricket world are now giving the opinion that Kohli should be sent back to number three. However, it seems a bit difficult to say what opinion the team management holds in this regard. In this episode, now former Indian fast bowler S Sreesanth has also given a similar opinion and said that young batsman Yashasvi Jaiswal can be given a chance in the final eleven.

Actually, when the selectors selected the team for the World Cup, it was believed that Yashasvi would be seen opening the innings with captain Rohit Sharma. However, after this, in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, Kohli scored 741 runs as an opener for RCB and in view of this, the team management decided to make Rohit and Virat open. Now Sreesanth has given a big statement on this matter during a conversation on Hotstar.

He said, “I want Yashasvi Jaiswal to be in the team's playing eleven in place of Shivam Dubey and should open with Rohit. Apart from this, I think the team should make another change and drop Mohammad Siraj and give a chance to Kuldeep Yadav. However, it is also true that when you are playing matches continuously and winning, you would not want to make many changes in your winning team.”

Let us tell you that the team led by Rohit Sharma has played a total of 3 matches in this World Cup so far and has won all the matches. With this, they have also qualified for the Super-8. However, they still have to play one match of the group stage, where the Men in Blue will face Canada on Saturday. After this, the team will go to the Caribbean Island, where it will play all the matches of the Super-8. In the next round, Team India has to face Australia on June 24, while two other teams have not been decided yet.
