Former Pakistan player and of the best spinners of all time, Saqlain Mushtaq is heartbroken after the Men in Green’s painful exit from the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. With the USA vs IRE match getting called off due to rain, the co-hosts made it to the Super 8 stage. It confirmed Pakistan’s elimination from the global tournament.

The Men in Green needed a favour from the Irish side but the contest was abandoned, giving one point each to Ireland and the United States of America. The States finished with five points from four matches and became the second team from Group A to advance to the next round.

On the other hand, Pakistan lost two back-to-back games against the States and India, which played a key role in their departure. They defeated Canada but it was not enough in the end.

“It’s very Saddening , heartbreaking and embarrassing to watch Pakistan Team exit from the super 8 of the T20 World Cup tournament. I really believe that we need to put Pakistan first before we take any actions and decisions and we should all reflect on each mistake we made, as individuals and collectively,” he wrote.

Pakistan will play their last match against Ireland on June 16.
