The Canada players expressed their admiration for Virat Kohli and Suryakumar Yadav as they prepare to face India in the Group A match of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. This will be the first-ever T20I encounter between the two teams, providing the Saad Bin Zafar-led Canadian side a golden opportunity to challenge the world’s top-ranked T20 team.
The Canadian players hailed the Indian team and its players for the formidable reputation they have built over the years, calling it a ‘dream come true’ moment to put their skills to the test against the cricketing powerhouse.
Due to heavy flooding in Miami, the weather forecast for Florida appears unfavorable. Nevertheless, the match will be held at the Central Broward Regional Park Stadium Turf Ground in Lauderhill.
The two matches scheduled at this venue have been washed out due to rain and thunderstorms. This will not concern India, as they have already qualified for the Super 8 stage. In contrast, Canada failed to advance to the next round. However, they did manage a spectacular win against Ireland in the Group A match.
The Canadian squad praised both Suryakumar Yadav’s reverse scoop and Kohli’s cover drives in a Star Sports video.
“Virat Kohli is my personal favorite because of what he achieved for both Indian and international cricket. I’m really impressed with him,” said Saad.
“It had to be Kohli. To be honest, it’s evident from the way he plays both sides of the wicket. However, a cover drive by Kohli is iconic,” said Nicholas Kirton.
“Suryakumar Yadav’s batting stance and footwork appear effortless as he takes his position at the crease,” remarked Jeremy Gordon.
“India is currently the best T20I team, so it’s great that we can compete on the same pitch and stage as them. If we perform well against them, it could help in establishing our team’s reputation in the cricketing world,” noted Saad bin Zafar.
“We’ve got nothing to lose. This is like a dream come true, you know. They possess their abilities. They showed their capabilities, now it is our turn to prove our own,” said Aaron Johnson.
Provided the weather conditions are favorable, Canada will look to put up a strong performance, similar to the USA’s efforts against India.
