Former Australia player Brad Hogg has refused to accept that the United States of America were lucky to qualify for the Super 8. According to him, the co-hosts defeated Pakistan and deserve to play in the next round.
“People are saying that the USA were lucky. They are not. The States defeated Pakistan, a Test playing nation. Pakistan don’t deserve to play in the Super 8,” he said.
For him, Scotland were the unluckiest team of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. “Scotland were the unluckiest team. They performed well against Australia and took the game close. Scotland played against England earlier in the tournament in Barbados. They were 90/0 after 10 overs. And on that wicket where there was turn and low bounce, they had huge opportunity to beat England.
“If they did, they would have gone to the second round,” Brad Hogg said.
England and Scotland finished their campaigns with five points each but the Jos Buttler-led team had a better net run-rate, which took them to the next phase.
