After a blissful start, West Indies opening batter Brandon Kings walks off due to discomfort in his leg. The incident takes place during the fifth over bowled by Sam Curran.

In the second delivery of the over, King dances down and pushes it towards mid-off as Curran goes fuller and a bit more straighter. The attempt was unsuccessful in terms of runs and also forced Brandon to walk off as he twisted his groin while playing that shot.

Brandon King was soon replaced by Nicholas Pooran and West Indies continued their momentum. Brandon King played a key role in the team’s 54 runs for no wicket loss in the first powerplay.

King powered the West Indies with his 13 balls 23 runs which included three boundaries and a maximum.

Speaking of the game, England won the toss and opted to bowl first where Brandon King and Johnson Charles opened the inning for West Indies.

The duo made a steady start by scoring five and eight in the first two overs. Brandon King slightly accelerated the inning by hitting back-to-back boundaries in Jofra Archer’s over.

While he was expected to continue the same in the fifth over, he got injured himself and retired hurt in the middle of the over bowled by Sam Curran. Nicholas Pooran who replaced him continued the momentum.

At the end of the first powerplay, West Indies scored 54 runs without losing a wicket.

England struggles to find their first breakthrough as the Windies batters threaten the defending champions with their massive strikes.

To restrict the run flow, Jos Buttler introduced the spin attack in the ninth over and it paid off well. Adil Rashid just gave 3 runs off the first over of the spin followed by Moeen Ali who spilled seven runs without a boundary.

At the end of 10 overs, West Indies scored 82 runs without losing any wicket.
