Now he has given up the captaincy of ODI and T20 cricket.

The New Zealand Cricket Board has said that they are ready to select him in the New Zealand team for the international series through special representation, even if he withdraws from the contract for the national team. Williamson has been playing ODI, Test and T20 cricket for New Zealand since 2010. He has scored 18,128 runs in 358 matches so far.

Under Williamson's leadership, New Zealand has played the 2015 and 2019 ODI World Cup finals and the 2021 T20 World Cup final.
