Philip Salt smacked a towering 100-meter six against his Kolkata Knight Riders teammate Andre Russell in the Super 8 encounter between West Indies and England at the Daren Sammy National Cricket Stadium.

In the 4th over of England’s innings, Russell delivered a slower ball as Salt advanced down the pitch. The England batter created room by stepping away and then dispatched the ball high over the bowler’s head. The shot sailed so far that it struck the rooftop of St. Lucia’s stadium.

In the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 clash, KKR teammates Phil Salt and Andre Russell found themselves pitted against each other.

Salt delivered a powerful shot that ricocheted off the roof. Earlier, the KKR duo was instrumental in leading their franchise to title victories after a decade-long drought. Opening the innings for England, Salt and captain Jos Buttler got their team off to a strong start in their pursuit of the 181-run target.

They stitched a 67-run opening partnership – their 7th 50-plus stand in T20Is.

Salt was particularly aggressive, blasting the West Indies bowlers to bring up his fifty off just 38 balls.

After Buttler’s wicket, Salt and Jonny Bairstow stitched another vital fifty-run stand. While Bairstow began blasting from one end, Salt’s scoring rate slowed down. However, he brought up his fifty in style, hitting a boundary and then following it up with a six.

The West Indies posted 180 runs in their 20 overs after being asked to bat first. Rovman Powell (36 off 17 balls) and Sherfane Rutherford (28 off 15 balls) batted aggressively for the co-hosts.
