Indian Cricket Securing a place in the team is modern Cricket has become one of the biggest challenges of the team but there was a time when Nitish Rana had a chance to cement his place but he could not capitalize on the opportunities given to him.

Rana was given a chance to make his debut for India during the white-ball tour of Sri Lanka in 2021. Rana played two T20s and one ODI on that tour and scored a total of 22 runs.

Following this poor performance, he was dropped from the national team and since then he has been looking for a way back.

Three years after being dropped from Team India, Rana has opened up about his heartache and how his teammate in Delhi and Rishabh Pant, by then an established international cricketer, helped him gain confidence.

“I was selected for the Sri Lanka tour. It was a very bad series for me,” Rana said in an interview with podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia on BeerBiceps. Cricket There was only one person in the world (Rishabh Pant) who called me after that. We spoke for 18 minutes. That phone call changed my life. When you reach where you wanted to reach and then you fail, that feeling is different. Nobody wants to fail.”

Speaking further, Rana said, “I never thought this would happen. I told myself that it would have been better if I was not selected. Rishabh told me, 'Ever since you picked up the bat for the first time, it was your dream to wear this jersey and you did it. You know what you did, but how you look at your life from here depends on you. You can either fall or you can get up again by working hard. I will not tell you this, nor will I ever talk about it again.'

Rana concluded by saying, “When you fail, you start doubting your talent and ability. This happened to me too. I was doubting myself a lot. I started thinking, was I not worth it? But Rishabh helped me overcome my doubts. We Cricket We don't talk about it but when we do, it's about pushing each other forward and that's called friendship.”
