The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced Team India for the Zimbabwe tour. On this tour, some players have been included in the team who were not even entitled to a place in the team. Not only this, these players have been included in the team on the basis of only a few matches and there are some players who have not been given a chance in the team despite performing well.

Even though young players have been included in the team against Zimbabwe, many players have been selected not on the basis of their performance but just on the basis of their name.

Dhruv Jurel

Young wicketkeeper batsman Dhruv Jurel has been given a chance on the Zimbabwe tour but his performance has not been good for some time.

He was not in good form even during IPL 2024 and this season he played 14 matches and scored only 195 runs at a modest average of 24 and a strike rate of 138 and during this time two half-centuries came off his bat. However, this player recently performed well in the Test series against England and has been selected in the team on the basis of his performance in Test cricket.

Nitish Kumar Reddy

The name of Sunrisers Hyderabad's young sensation all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy is also included among those players who have performed well in just one season of IPL and on the basis of this he has been given a place in the team.

His name came into the headlines during IPL 2024 and then after this he has been selected in the team.

This season Nitish played a total of 15 matches and scored 303 runs at an average of 33.67 and a strike rate of 142.92. Apart from this, he took only 3 wickets during bowling and his economy was more than 11.

Tushar Deshpande

Tushar Deshpande, who plays for Chennai Super Kings in IPL, is also included in the list of such players, whose performance was not very good but they have been given a place in the team. The fast bowler has got a place in the team because he plays for CSK.

If we look at his statistics in IPL 2024, he played 13 matches and proved to be quite expensive in them. During this, Deshpande took 17 wickets but the economy rate was close to 9. His record was similar during IPL 2023 as well, when he took wickets but proved to be quite expensive.
