VIDEO: Afghanistan celebrated 'Holi' after success in T20 World Cup, celebrations from stadium to road, players could not stop their tears

What the Afghanistan team did in the T20 World Cup 2024 is nothing short of a miracle. Miracle because no one expected that Rashid Khan's team would reach so far in the tournament. That too while being in a group that had a strong team like Australia.

But, the Afghans not only defeated Australia but also became the reason for their exit from the tournament. With Afghanistan getting a ticket to the semi-finals, Australia had to return home from the Super-8 of the tournament. The celebration in the Afghan team's house on this success is like Holi festival being celebrated somewhere in India.

Cricket fans in Afghanistan have come out on the streets after their team qualified for the semi-finals of the T20 World Cup for the first time. A huge crowd of fans is immersed in the celebration of the team's success. Colors are flying. Gulal is flying.

Every color is mixed in the air of Afghanistan. This is also natural because the date of June 25 is written as the golden page in the book of Afghanistan cricket. A bigger and more unmatched success story has not been written for Afghanistan till now.

Afghanistan players were seen immersed in the euphoria of victory in the stadium

Afghanistan's success saw celebrations from the stadium to the streets. The Afghan team's cricketers also celebrated their success wholeheartedly. The sight of Afghanistan's players coming out on the field with Bangladesh's last wicket was exactly like what we felt after watching Team India win the first T20 World Cup title in 2007.

The players could not stop their tears

Getting a ticket to the semi-finals of the T20 World Cup 2024 was also an emotional moment for the Afghanistan players. Opener and tournament top scorer Rahmanullah Gurbaz cried as soon as the team won. Pictures of him crying were captured by the cameras installed on the field.

Afghanistan's celebration reminded us of Team India

On one side there were tears of Gurbaz and on the other side there was celebration on the field, seeing which the pictures of celebrations after Team India won the 2011 World Cup started repeating themselves. The Afghan players were seen carrying their captain Rashid Khan and coach Jonathan Trott on their shoulders just like the Indian players carried Sachin Tendulkar and Gary Kirsten on their shoulders in 2011 and took them round the field.
