When India’s captain Rohit Sharma scored 92 runs off of only 41 balls in the Super 8 match of the T20 World Cup against Australia, Suryakumar Yadav was in awe of his batting prowess.
There was more to Rohit’s performance than simply technical prowess. He took advantage of the heavy wind blowing across the field from the very first over. India was in a dominant position by the conclusion of the powerplay thanks to his innings, which established a powerful tone for the team.
“It seemed like a dream; Rohit batted brilliantly.” During the innings break, Suryakumar remarked, “Before coming here, we sat together, we talked about it, how we wanted to approach it, and what brand of cricket we wanted to play, and he showed us the way.”
The Indian captain’s post-match remarks demonstrated the careful preparation that went into his seemingly effortless excellence. “I noticed a good wind blowing over as soon as I crossed over to number one. They had to alter their strategy and bowl into the wind, so Rohit recognized he also needed to open up the off-side.
Arshdeep Singh, who took 3-37 and was instrumental with the ball, was unsurprised by Rohit’s comeback. We constantly discuss as a team in the locker room that as long as the team is doing well, individual results don’t really matter. We were aware that he is a legend and that the big moment was always just around the corner. Therefore, we were not taken aback by his performance today [Monday], which went quite well. During the press conference after the game, Arshdeep said, “We just hope he does the same for us in the upcoming games.”
