Michael Vaughan, a former captain of England, blasted the T20 World Cup semifinal schedule, claiming that it is “unfair” to other countries and that the whole event is set up to favor India.
Afghanistan’s historic tournament campaign came to an end on Thursday as South Africa defeated them by nine wickets in the first semifinal at Tarouba and advanced to the finals.
The final between India and the reigning winners, England, later in the day should have taken place in Guyana, according to Vaughan.
“Surely this semi should have been the Guyana one, but because the whole event is geared towards India, it’s so unfair on others,” Vaughan posted on X.
Vaughan had previously said that because of the trip and aircraft delay, Afghanistan did not have enough time to be ready for their first-ever semi-final.
Afghanistan’s victory in St. Vincent on Monday night sees them go to the World Cup semifinal. There is a complete lack of consideration for the players, I fear, since there was a 4-hour flight delay on Tuesday to Trinidad, leaving little time for practice or acclimatization.

Tabraiz Shamsi responded with figures of 3-6 in his 1.5 overs, helping to bundle out Afghanistan for 56/10 in 11.5 overs.
Reeza Hendricks (29*) and skipper Aiden Markram (23*) led his team to a commanding nine-wicket victory in the chase, securing a championship match at Providence Stadium against the victor of India vs.
