In the second semifinal of the Twenty20 World Cup, India, who are still undefeated, will take on the reigning champions, England, hoping to exact revenge for their 10-wicket loss to the Jos Buttler-led team in the 2022 tournament.

Since winning the competition’s first T20 World Cup in 2007, India has not triumphed in the competition. They have not won a World Cup since they last prevailed in the ODI World Cup in 2011.

But India’s last ICC championship came in the Champions Trophy of 2013, when the team captained by MS Dhoni defeated England in the championship match.

On the other hand, the reigning champions are holding onto the dream of winning the T20 World Cup twice in a row and making history as the first men’s side to do so.

Just 19 months have passed since these two teams last squared off in a Men’s T20 World Cup quarterfinal in Adelaide, when England easily won their second championship thanks to an outstanding opening combination between Jos Buttler and Alex Hales.

It’s interesting to note that, similar to 2022, the two teams will play each other in Guyana on Thursday in the second semifinal.

India has won every match in which they have been allowed to participate, with the lone defeat coming from the postponed match against Canada at Lauderhill under torrential rain.

Conversely, England’s campaign has been hot and cold, marked by stunning victories and shocking defeats, and they have battled valiantly to make it to the semifinals.

In their four T20 World Cup meetings, India and England have each won two games.

In the T20I head-to-head record, India has a slim advantage overall with a 12-11 record.
