After Rohit Sharma’s team defeated England to guarantee their place in the T20 World Cup 2024 final, many Indian cricket supporters’ expectations are high once again. Mr. Jay Shah, the secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India, has one straightforward message for the squad and its fans as the Men in Blue prepare for yet another attempt to win silverware.
A brief communication was sent to the Indian squad by the BCCI secretary. He thanked the squad for reaching the finals in a post he made on his official X account with the caption “BELIEVE.”
The major match between the Indian squad and South Africa is scheduled for this Saturday at the Kensington Oval in Barbados. Given that they are the only teams in the competition to go undefeated, both teams are the best.
Both as a skipper and at the bat, Rohit Sharma has been exceptional. In crucial matches, such as those against Australia and England in the Super Eight and semifinal, he has delivered some excellent innings that have given the team momentum and a respectable total on the scoreboard.
After guiding the team to the final of the ODI World Cup, he has once again shown his leadership skills. Now, the Indian team is one match away from winning the trophy in the T20I format.
Many questioned why he decided to include four spinners in his squad for the T20 championship, and the answer was clear when players like Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav stole the show with the ball against the reigning champions, England.
With a victory, India will fulfill Jay Shah’s pledge to raise the trophy in Barbados, which he made at the renaming of the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in honor of former BCCI and SCA Secretary Niranjan Shah.
