India has been in three ICC finals in the last 12 months, which Rahul Dravid claimed is quite consistent. The departing head coach expressed optimism that his team can win an elusive ICC trophy through a mix of skillful play and good fortune.
Similar to how they performed at home in the ODI World Cup against Australia last year, India has been the much better side in the current World Cup.
After winning the 2013 Champions Trophy, Rohit and company will now play South Africa in the T20 World Cup 2024 final at the Kensington Oval with the hopes of winning a world championship.
“It is fortunate that we have been playing excellent cricket on a regular basis. We are proud of the players since we have advanced to the finals in all three forms. In order to finish his career on a positive note, Dravid said, “We will undoubtedly win if we play well and rub off the green (our way).”
Players often experience higher levels of pressure when the trophy is at stake.
With just one day between the semifinal and final, India is limited in what it can accomplish psychologically.
Following their semifinal victory over England in Guyana, the squad flew to Barbados, but Dravid insisted that India was psychologically prepared for the encounter.
It seems improbable that we will practice given that we just have one day left in our preparation. All the lads need to focus on making sure we are psychologically, physically, and strategically prepared for the game.
Dravid emphasized how ready his team is for the final of the T20 World Cup in 2024.
These are the things we have control over, the things that make us feel new, and the things that, if any, we have taken care of.
We’ve completed all of our tactical planning, and we’re eager and at ease psychologically for the match.“Our goal is to complete that task within the next 24 hours and ensure that we are mentally prepared to play that game,” said the former captain of India.
India lost to Australia in the 2023 World Tennis Championship and ODI World Cup finals. Have they learned anything from such devastating losses?
“No, not at all. We were, in my opinion, really well-prepared in Ahmedabad (ODI WC).
The other squad performed better that day, even though we checked all the boxes. That’s a component of the game. Because they are a strong team and play excellent cricket, the other team that is scheduled to play has also undoubtedly advanced to the final. They thus have a same chance of winning as we do, but we’re hoping for better cricket on the day,” he remarked. On a field where playing on the up was difficult, India managed to score 181 against Afghanistan in their Super 8 opener here.
According to Dravid, they wanted to use that information going into the game against South Africa.
Indeed, it is pleasant enough that we were able to play a game in Barbados. It’s convenient that we are acquainted with the surface from previous games. Still, I believe it’s rather difficult to… We won’t get precisely the same wicket as we did in the last game. It may be different, after all.
