The Indian cricket team has suffered a major setback before the five-match T20 International series against Zimbabwe.

Sanju Samson, Shivam Dube and Yashasvi Jaiswal have been ruled out of the first two matches of the series. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) gave this information by issuing a press release on Tuesday.

The selection committee has included Sai Sudarshan, Jitesh Sharma and Harshit Rana in the team in place of these three players for the first two matches.

Sudarshan made his ODI debut for India last year. Jitesh has played 9 T20 Internationals for India, while Harshit, who played an important role in making Kolkata Knight Riders champions in IPL 2024, is uncapped at the international level.

Samson, Dubey and Jaiswal were part of the Indian team that won the T20 World Cup on Saturday (29 June). Let us tell you that the Indian team is currently stuck in Barbados due to the storm.

BCCI has confirmed that Sanju, Shivam and Yashasvi will travel to India with the World Cup winning Indian team before Barbados.

India will then travel to Zimbabwe for the last three T20 International matches.

It is worth noting that India has selected a less experienced team for the Zimbabwe tour, and has made Shubman Gill the captain.

The first match of the series will be played on July 6 and the last match on July 14. All the matches will be held at Harare Sports Club.
