Delhi: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has released the schedule for the 2024-25 international season. The PCB has also listed India as one of the participating teams for the ICC Champions Trophy, which will be hosted by Pakistan next year.

The PCB has confirmed that the eight-team Champions Trophy will be held from February 19 to March 9. The matches will be held in Karachi, Rawalpindi and Lahore. The PCB also confirmed that the participating teams are Afghanistan, Australia, Bangladesh, England, India, New Zealand, Pakistan and South Africa.

Lahore's Gaddafi Stadium is currently being renovated in preparation for the Champions Trophy. The iconic venue is expected to host most of the high-profile matches, including the mega clash between Pakistan and India. It remains to be seen whether Team India will visit Pakistan or not.

At the same time, this year Pakistan will play a two-Test series against Bangladesh in August. This will be followed by a three-Test series against England in October. They will tour the West Indies for a two-Test series in January 2025.

Apart from this, an ODI tri-series between New Zealand, South Africa and Pakistan will be held in February. The main event of the season will be the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.

Will Babar Azam be relieved from captaincy?

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Mohsin Naqvi has talked about changing the captain of his national team. The PCB chairman said that no decision has been taken yet regarding the replacement of captain Babar Azam.

He said, “Former cricketers will decide on the replacement of the captain. I also feel that mistakes have been made, but later Babar Azam and former cricketers will decide, Wahab Riaz did not meet.”

It is worth noting that under the captaincy of Babar Azam, the Pakistan cricket team suffered defeat against India and the United States (USA) in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024, after which they were eliminated from the group stage of the tournament and criticism of the team started.
