Delhi: Former Indian team off-spinner Ramesh Pawar is currently working as a spin coach with Australia's Under-19 cricket team. During the practice session of Australian youth players at the Niranjan Shah Stadium in Rajkot on Sunday, Pawar spent a lot of time with the team's spin bowlers and gave them important technical information to bowling.

Cricket Australia had contacted a few months ago

According to Ramesh Pawar, Cricket Australia (CA) had contacted him several months ago. The board wanted him to work with the young spin bowlers for a few days and help them improve their game. Pawar has worked with young spinners of Australia before also. In June 2018, he was invited to Cricket Australia's Center of Excellence in Brisbane to train Australia's Under-23 spinners.

Pawar will stay with the team for four days

Pawar joined Australia's Under-19 team on Saturday. He will remain with the team till the third and last youth ODI against India on Wednesday. The first match of the three-match series between the two countries was played on Friday, in which India won by seven runs. The second match of the series is scheduled for Monday and the third match for Wednesday.

Also contender for the post of junior selector in BCCI

Ramesh Pawar is striving for another important role in Indian cricket. He has applied for the post of junior selector of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). However, the interview process for this has not started yet. BCCI Secretary Devjit Saikia had told after the annual general meeting of the board that the candidates are being shortlisted. After this the Cricket Advisory Committee will complete the selection process by taking interviews.

long coaching experience

Ramesh Pawar has good experience of coaching in domestic and international cricket. He has been the head coach of the Indian women's cricket team. Apart from this, he coached Gujarat for three consecutive seasons. Mumbai also won the Vijay Hazare Trophy title in March 2021 under his coaching.
