A brilliant spell from Sufyan Moqim set up Antigua and Barbuda Falcons to their maiden title in the Caribbean Premier League.

He delivered a breathtaking spell, returning with figures of 4/14 before Amir Jangoo and Hasan Nawaz put up a stand to complete the chase.

The victory also sees Antigua and Barbuda Falcons join the list of champions in the CPL winners list, marking a new chapter in the tournament’s history.

The bowlers put Kingsmen to a sub-par total as the batters did the rest. Batting first, Kirk McKenzie and Keacy Carty got dismissed cheaply as the side lost two wickets to score 59 runs in the powerplay.

Saim Ayub, who came to bat at no.4, joined Sadaqat, putting up an 80-run partnership for the third wicket. Sufyan Moqim bagged his first wicket, dismissing Saim Ayub for 29 runs, and picked up his second wicket, dismissing Powell for a duck.

Moqim bagged another two wickets, dismissing Hasan Khan and Keemo Paul for ducks. Meanwhile, Maaz Sadaqat smashed a century in the 17th over and went on to score 114 runs off 58 deliveries as the side scored 170 runs in their 20-over innings.

Sufyan Moqim bagged four wickets, while Alzarri Joseph bagged two wickets, and Jayden Seales, Shadab Khan and Shamar Springer bagged two wickets.

Chasing a 171-run target, Rahkeem Cornwall and Evin Lewis opened the innings, where the former fired quick 6-ball 20. With Vitel Lawes and Amir Jangoo at the crease, Antigua and Barbuda Falcons scored 76 runs in the powerplay.

Vitel Lawes bagged the wicket of Lewis for 38 runs. Meanwhile, with Amir Jangoo and Hasan Nawaz at the crease, Antigua and Barbuda Falcons completed the chase in the 17th over.

Jangoo remained unbeaten on 57*, which included 4 fours and 3 sixes. Meanwhile, Hasan Nawaz scored 47* runs, including 3 fours and 3 sixes.

Sufyan Moqim was named player of the match. Speaking on the post-match presentation, Moqim said, “He did so well throughout the tournament. Obviously, when you perform in the final, you are very happy, and he dedicates his Man of the Match performance just to our legend Ambrose because it is his birthday.
