South Africa won the toss and opted to bowl. Speaking on the toss, Aiden Markram said, “We’re going to bowl; it’s pretty obvious why. It’s a bit of weather around, and the pitch has been under cover for most of the morning. So if there’s anything in it today, we open it up front, and hopefully we can look at it better later on.”
Speaking on today South Africa cricket team playing 11, Markram said, “Yeah there’s like there’s five. So if I miss one, I’m sorry, but the guys who are coming in, Rex (Rickelton) is back in, de Zorzi’s, Mokoena, Bosch and Coetzee are playing today as well. So yeah, five changes, quite a few. But always exciting to get some new energy in.”
Reasoning on changes in the playing 11, Markram said, “Yeah, it’s just rotation really. Obviously with one eye on the Test series to come as well from Shukri’s (Conrad) point of view and then obviously opportunities as well. The guys in the first game did really well and those guys get another crack at it today, which is only fair. It’s always an exciting day. Although the series might be over, there’s still a lot to play for for us and the boys are pretty pumped up about that.”
Meanwhile, Mitchell Marsh said, “Yeah, really good. Obviously it’s a shame that the series is done, but there’s still lots to play for in our team and a lot of areas to improve, which hopefully we’ll see today.”
Speaking on the today Australia cricket team playing 11, Marsh said, “Yeah, we’ve made a few forced changes. Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc and Peake are in.”
“Well, firstly, the win for our country, and like I said, there’s certain areas to improve in our game, and it’s an opportunity to play pretty fresh. So, you know, hopefully we finish the series well,” added Marsh.
“Yeah, look, reading wickets, I don’t know if it’s anyone’s strength. I saw some ground under covers. I think if it is hard work early, we’ll just try and nullify that and get through. But I think all in all it looks a really good surface, and it’s a lovely ground. I’d like it to be a little bit warmer, but that’s okay,” concluded Marsh.
