Delhi: The first match of the five-match T20I series between India and West Indies is to be played on Tuesday, October 6 at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow. However, just before the match, the heartbeats of cricket fans and organizers have increased.

In fact, the water of Gomti River has reached very close to Ekana Stadium and a situation of serious waterlogging has arisen in the surrounding low-lying areas. The situation has worsened to such an extent that a main underpass leading to the stadium had to be closed due to water logging.

The match will start on time

Even though there is a flood like atmosphere all around the stadium, yet the Ekana Stadium management has promised that the match will start on time. The management says that the ground and the main pitch are completely safe and there will be no hindrance in the match due to waterlogging.

However, the way the water has reached very close to the stadium, it can create problems for the visiting spectators. The local administration is currently busy in draining water with the help of pumps.

Flood like situation created due to negligence of administration!

Ekana Stadium is located just 500 meters away from Gomti River. The water from a big drain near the stadium overflowed and started flowing directly into the catchment of the river, causing a serious problem of water logging in the area.

Local people allege that this situation has arisen due to administrative negligence in the maintenance of drains and drainage systems. Due to this, not only the route of the stadium has been affected, but many residential areas of Lucknow have also been flooded.

Team India would like to start with a win after winning the ODI series.

Just before the T20 series, India had defeated West Indies 2-1 in the three-match ODI series. In such a situation, the Indian team captained by Shreyas Iyer would like to continue its winning campaign in T20 format also.

There is huge enthusiasm among the fans about this match. A huge crowd is expected to gather at Ekana to watch 15-year-old young sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi along with many star players in action. Now it has to be seen how much the administration is able to facilitate the movement of spectators before the match.
