Delhi:Indian women's cricket team has got a new captain. Just hours after Harmanpreet Kaur stepped down from the captaincy, BCCI on Tuesday, October 6, appointed Smriti Mandhana as the new captain of the team. Now the command of the Indian women's cricket team will be in the hands of that player, who has been one of the most reliable batsmen of the team for a long time.
Smriti Mandhana has been a part of the Indian team since 2013 and she also has captaincy experience. She has previously captained India in 22 white-ball matches.
Smriti has captained India in 18 T20Is, in which the team won 11 matches, lost 6 and one match remained inconclusive. His record in ODI is even better. While captaining India, he has won all four matches.
Smriti's captaincy record in WPL has also been good. He captained RCB in 35 matches, in which the team won 18, while facing defeat in 17 matches. In such a situation, getting the captaincy of Team India is not only a new responsibility for Smriti, but is also a big milestone in her journey so far.

Jemimah Rodrigues is recovering from a hamstring injury and is not part of the team right now. Whereas Shreyanka Patil, Renuka Singh Thakur, Radha Yadav and Bharti Fulmali, who were part of the team that won the gold medal for India in the Asian Games, have not got a place in the T20I team.
Renuka Singh Thakur has been included in the team for the ODI series. Tejal Hasbanis, who scored two half-centuries in the ODI series against Australia A, has also returned.
