'What's the procedure?' Ravindra Jadeja asks BCCI about selector vacancy after Agarkar's exit
India all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja made a rare appearance on X on Wednesday evening, hours after the BCCI confirmed that Ajit Agarkar 's tenure as the chairman of selectors had ended.
Jadeja responded to a BCCI post advertising the vacant selector's position and asked about the process to apply for the job.
“What the procedure?" Jadeja replied to the BCCI's post.
Jadeja is not known to be very active on X. His last reply to a post was on February 19, when he responded to former India spinner Ravichandran Ashwin on a tweet related to Nepal cricket.
Agarkar's tenure ended on October 4. Former India spinner Pragyan Ojha is currently the interim chairman of selectors for the men's team, with Shiv Sundar Das, Ajay Ratra and RP Singh the other members of the selection committee.
Earlier on Wednesday, India head coach Gautam Gambhir also praised Agarkar, saying that "history would be kinder" to the outgoing chairman and that his belief in "team first" was crucial to India winning three ICC trophies during his tenure.
"Dear Ajit Bhai, an absolute honour to work with you.
Those 3 ICC trophies are testimony of your conviction: Team first & Team ahead, always.. I must say, History will be kinder to you. Thank you for everything. My heartfelt wishes for your future endeavours!!" Gambhir posted.
India won the 2024 and 2026 T20 World Cups and the 2025 Champions Trophy during Agarkar's tenure. He also oversaw a period of transition that included the T20 and Test retirements of batting greats Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma.
Agarkar was perceived as a ruthless selector and remained non-committal on whether Kohli and Rohit would be part of India's plans for the 2027 ODI World Cup.
