Delhi: Indian cricket team's head coach Gautam Gambhir has expressed concern over the conditions being created in favor of the batsmen. He believes that it is important to have a balance between bat and ball in cricket. If the pitches continue to favor the batsmen, it will become difficult for the bowlers to perform well. Gambhir said that the career of the bowlers is also at stake and they should also get proper results of their hard work.
Just 10 days after successfully chasing the target of 406 runs in the ODI match against West Indies in Guwahati, the Indian team had to face a similar challenge in Ranchi. In the second T20 International, India batted first and scored 249 runs, but West Indies achieved this big target with 9 balls remaining thanks to the unbeaten century of captain Shai Hope (102*).
After the match, Gambhir admitted that bowling on dew and a flat pitch was not easy. He said, “We are a world champion team, so we want to keep improving. It is difficult to bowl on a flat pitch and dew, but we have to find a way to stop the opposition team.”
Gambhir praised West Indies spin bowling all-rounder Roston Chase, who took 3 wickets for 24 runs. He said that Chase changed his line and did not give the batsmen a chance to play freely.
According to Gambhir, bowlers should sometimes bowl at the batsmen's feet and sometimes outside the off stump and at full length. By continuously bowling on the same line and length, the batsmen get easily settled.
It is noteworthy that the five-match T20 International series is now tied at 1-1. The Indian team will try to take the lead by registering a win in the next match.
