India are getting ready to play the third T20I game against New Zealand on Tuesday. The visitors are already 2-0 up in the series, having won both the games at the Hagley Oval in Christchurch. A win in Wellington will give the side an unassailable 3-0 lead.

Indian bowling coach Morne Morkel addressed the media ahead of the game and said there were bulletproof plans in place for the bowlers.

The 42-year-old said that the strategies were put into place keeping in mind the workload of the players.

“The team has mapped out plans for each bowler before the tour began. Everyone knows what is expected of them, in terms of workload, and in terms of bowling,” he said.

After the T20I series ends on 1st November, they will play a five-match ODI series that begins on 4th November.

“There are a couple of players in the India A side getting ready for the red-ball series. In the ODI series, we will rotate and give guys what they need in order to get ready for the Test series. It has been a bulletproof plan so far, whatever we have mapped out, but unfortunately, not everything can go according to plan,” he added.

“The backup we have got, the combinations are all in place in terms of rotation and making sure we get ready for the red-ball Tests and the 50-over series. Everybody’s ready, including Jasprit Bumrah.”

jasprit bumrah’s last Test was in late 2025, and he is not part of the white-ball sides. He was last seen playing for India in the Asian Games 2026 campaign in Japan and bowled well in the final to help his side beat Pakistan and win the gold medal.

Arshdeep Singh likely to be picked for Test cricket?

Left-arm seamer Arshdeep Singh has been in great form with the ball in the current T20I series.

The 27-year-old is yet to make his Test debut, and according to Morkel, the seamer could be added as a backup to the Test side as well.

“We are planning a group of bowlers that the team would like to keep back for the Test series as cover due to the schedule. Once we get closer to the series, there will be a better understanding of the conditions at this time of the year, and we will get a clear picture regarding the bowling unit.

Arshdeep is definitely in conversation. He is a guy who works hard and ticks all the boxes, so if needed for the red-ball series, he should be fine.”
