The WPL 2027 auction continued to be a great opportunity for veteran overseas stars and talented young Indian players by adding some smart recruits. Royal Challengers Bengaluru made a bid for Australian all-rounder Jess Jonassen while Mumbai Indians picked up India's exciting young batter Saanika Chalke at her base price.

UP Warriorz had an eventful auction by signing Scotland all-rounder Kathryn Bryce, Manali Dakshini and Sahana Pawar from the domestic circuit. Delhi Capitals added Scotland left-arm spinner Kirstie Gordon and Gujarat Giants signed Samaira Raghav, a 16-year-old all-rounder. All teams are adding to their depth.

RCB enter the bidding for Jess Jonassen

Australian all-rounder Jess Jonassen has sparked interest from Royal Challengers Bengaluru at a base price of ₹40 lakh. After playing for Delhi Capitals in the previous three seasons, Jonassen is a well-known figure in the WPL.

However, Jonassen has been sidelined due to a hip injury suffered in the Women's Big Bash League but is expected to be fit again in January.

Adding Jonassen can bring the experience she offers in both aspects of the game. It can also give RCB an extra spin option in their line-up.

Mumbai Indians bolstered their squad by signing rising star Saanika Chalke at a base price of ₹10 lakh. The talented youngster has slowly made a name for himself in domestic cricket.

She first came to prominence in the Under-19 one-day tournament after hitting a double century for her side against Sikkim in 2022. She then played an important role in the victorious India side at the Women's Under-19 T20 World Cup in 2025. However, she couldn't really play her natural number three position as the opening pair are well established.

Since then, she has put together an impressive domestic record. She led the run-scoring charts in the T20 competition for Mumbai earlier this year with 223 runs from five games (SR: 142.94). She also made a timely statement before the auction with an 85 from 53 balls for Mumbai against Jharkhand in the Senior Women's T20 Trophy.

Overall, this signing can be a good investment for Mumbai as they have picked up a young batter from India who will surely progress over the next few seasons.

UP Warriorz add Scottish all-rounder Kathryn Bryce

UP Warriorz strengthened their squad by adding Kathryn Bryce from Scotland at a price of ₹10 lakh. Her sister Sarah didn't find a buyer.

With international experience and versatility, her signing adds another option for UP Warriorz.

Overall it can be a great opportunity to show her talents in one of the top women's franchises and play against some of the best in the world.

Delhi Capitals add Kirstie Gordon

Delhi Capitals added Scottish left arm spinner Kirstie Gordon at a price of ₹10 lakh. Gordon had played for England in the past but switched allegiances to Scotland so will be classed as an Associate in the auction.

As a left-arm spinner, it gives Delhi another option to add to their bowling attack. The experience she can offer may help the team's established players. Overall, she is a cheap signing at base price and can add value to the squad.

UP Warriorz add more domestic talent

UP Warriorz continued their spending spree by adding two more Indian domestic players. Manali Dakshini and Sahana Pawar were signed for ₹10 lakh each.

Both signings highlight the need for depth in the squad. Although they didn't get the same price as some of the other big names, they will have a chance to fight for a place in the squad.

These signings could be important for UP Warriorz as they now have more bowling options.

Gujarat Giants invest in young prospects

Gujarat Giants added 16-year-old all-rounder Samaira Raghav at a price of ₹10 lakh. She was one of four players added to the auction list at the last minute. This signing shows they are investing in their future.

As an all-rounder, it gives Gujarat another young option to add to their depth for next season. She is very young at just 16 so can learn from experienced players and get used to a high-pressure environment.

This signing shows how important young domestic players are becoming in the WPL.

WPL 2027 Auction

The latest set of signings show how the auction isn't just about getting the big names. Jonassen and Gordon offer specialist experience while Chalke and Raghav offer future potential.

UP Warriors added a few cheap options, Mumbai invested in a promising batter and Delhi added more spin options. How successful these signings are will depend on how they slot into their teams and take their chances.
