The first ODI between India and Sri Lanka ended in a tie as the Men in Blue were dismissed for 230 runs while chasing 231. India were the favorites after Rohit Sharma gave them an attacking start, but Lanka hit back in style, taking important wickets in the middle overs.

The partnership between KL Rahul and Axar Patel steadied the ship for a while before both departed quickly. Shivam Dube kept India in the game, but his dismissal opened the gate for the home team. Arshdeep Singh departed after Dube’s wicket, and India managed 230 in 47.5 overs.

Wanindu Hasaranga and Charith Asalanka took three wickets each, while Dunith Wellalage dismissed two batters.

Earlier, Sri Lanka posted 230/8, with Dunith Wellalage (67 not out) and Pathum Nissanka (56) scoring fifties. Axar and Arshdeep added two scalps each to their bowling figures.
