Jay Shah: For some time now, there have been rumours that Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are going to turn to domestic cricket. Two of the world's best players are going to play in the Duleep Trophy which is to be played from September 5. However, the names of these two players were missing from the teams announced for the Duleep Trophy yesterday.
This made it clear that Rohit and Virat are not going to return to domestic cricket for the time being. BCCI secretary Jay Shah revealed the reason behind this. During a recent interview, he explained why two star cricketers of India do not give priority to first class or List-A cricket.

Duleep Trophy is going to start in India from 5th September. Many great players of Team India will be seen playing in it. The list includes the names of KL Rahul, Shreyas Iyer, Shubman Gill, Kuldeep Yadav, Shivam Dubey, Mohammad Siraj, Rishabh Pant.
However, the names of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are not present in it. Explaining the reason behind both of them not playing in the domestic tournament, BCCI Secretary Jay Shah said,
“We should not force players like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli to play in the Duleep Trophy. They will be at risk of getting injured. If you have noticed, in Australia and England, not every international player plays domestic cricket. We should give respect to the players”.
