After being disqualified from the Paris Olympics, Vinesh Phogat appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS), where she failed. Vinesh Phogat's appeal was rejected due to which she did not get the joint silver medal. Now the full copy of the CAS decision has come, which explains why Vinesh Phogat was disqualified. The Court of Arbitration (CAS) directly said that all athletes will have to stay below their weight limit and this will not be compromised under any circumstances.
CAS told why Vinesh Phogat's plea was rejected.
According to CAS, 'The biggest problem for athletes is that the rules clearly state what the weight limit should be and this rule is for every player. The upper weight limit will not be tolerated. There is no scope for even an iota of variation in this.' On Vinesh Phogat's appeal, CAS said, 'There is no dispute that Vinesh Phogat's weight was more than the prescribed limit. She gave evidence of this during the hearing. Her case was that her weight was only 100 grams more and the player should get relaxation in the weight due to such a small difference.'
