Australian wicketkeeper Alyssa Healy doesn’t want to play the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 in Bangladesh later this year. The situation in the Asian country isn’t fine after student-led protests forced Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to resign.

Alyssa, who played the ODIs and T20Is earlier this year in Bangladesh, said that hosting the global tournament would put more pressure on a country experiencing turmoil.

“I find it hard to fathom playing in Bangladesh at the moment. As a human being, I feel it might be wrong to play there,” Healy was quoted as saying in Cricbuzz.

“Organizing a T20 World Cup would take away resources from a country that is struggling. They need help for the people who are dying,” she added.

If the ICC decides to shift the tournament from Bangladesh, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Zimbabwe are the front runners.

Healy is ready to respect any decision taken by the International Cricket Council (ICC).

“I am ready to accept what ICC says.” The tournament was offered to India, but the BCCI refused to host it.
