This time Team India has not played any Test series on the Sri Lanka tour. Due to which BCCI and Sri Lanka Cricket Board (SCB) have decided to organize a series of 2 Test matches in August 2026.

The last Test series between Team India and Sri Lanka (IND VS SL) was played on Sri Lankan grounds in the year 2017. This time on the Sri Lanka tour, Team India played only the white ball format.

In such a situation, the Sri Lanka Cricket Board and BCCI have decided to organize a series of 2 Test matches in August 2026. After which it is believed that Team India will play a Test series on Sri Lankan grounds after almost 9 years.

Rohit Sharma will captain the team on the Sri Lanka tour

The current captain of Team India, Rohit Sharma, has recently announced his retirement from international T20 cricket. After which it is believed that Rohit Sharma will now be seen playing continuously in ODI and Test cricket and captaining Team India till the 2027 World Cup. Similarly, Virat Kohli can also be seen playing for Team India at the international level till the 2027 World Cup.
