Board of Control for Cricket in India secretary Jay Shah will now be the boss of international cricket. Jay Shah has been elected as the next chairman of the ICC. The ICC officially announced this on Tuesday, August 27. Along with this, he will also be the youngest chairman of the council. Jay Shah, just 35 years old, will take over this post from December 1. He will replace the current chairman Greg Barclay in this post, who was the chairman for 4 consecutive years (2 terms) but refused the third term. With this announcement, people have also started wanting to know how much salary Jay Shah will get as ICC chairman, will he earn more than BCCI?

Jay Shah became the secretary of BCCI in 2019 and has been continuously holding this post since then. Now he will leave this post and take charge of the ICC. The tenure of the ICC chairman is 2 years and a maximum of 3 terms can be given to any chairman. In such a situation, Shah will take over the reins of ICC for the next few years. But will he get a salary as ICC chairman? If he gets it, will it be more than BCCI? These are some questions that are in everyone's mind.

How does BCCI earn money?

First let's talk about BCCI.

The President, Secretary, Vice President and Treasurer are 'honorary' posts in the Indian Cricket Board. The officials holding these posts do not get any monthly or annual salary. That is, there is no fixed salary. Despite this, they are given expenses for work by the board. These officials are given different types of allowances and expenses, which were increased by the board last year. All the big honorary officials including the President and Secretary get an allowance of 1000 dollars i.e. about 82 thousand rupees every day for going to ICC meetings or foreign tours related to Team India.
Along with this, they get the facility to travel in first class in airplanes.

Similarly, for attending different meetings within India, an allowance of Rs. 40,000 per day is given and along with that, business class travel facility is also provided. Apart from this, an allowance of Rs. 30,000 per day is also given for visiting different cities in connection with work other than board meetings. Apart from this, officers can also book hotel suite rooms for themselves in the country or abroad, the expenses of which are borne by the board.

Will ICC pay salary to Jai Shah?

That is, Jay Shah does not get salary from BCCI but he gets a good amount of expenses for attending board meetings and ICC meetings held abroad.

A similar provision is there in ICC. There too, officials like chairman, vice-chairman do not get a fixed salary. They also get allowances and facilities based on different meetings and work. However, till date it has not been released by ICC how much money it gives to its officials in the form of allowances or other facilities.
