Life ban has been imposed on 3 hockey players of Pakistan. Apart from the players, a physiotherapist has also been banned for life. These players have neither been found guilty of heinous crimes like match fixing nor have they indulged in any physical fight. Their fault is that all three players had sought refuge in Europe during the Nations Cup played in Netherlands and Poland last month. Pakistan Hockey Federation has banned Murtaza Yaqoob, Ehtesham Aslam and Abdur Rehman, and physiotherapist Waqas has also been banned.
Pakistan Hockey Federation Secretary General Rana Mujahid confirmed the news of life ban on the three players.
The Secretary of the Pak Hockey Federation said, 'When the team returned from Netherlands-Holland, we announced a training camp for the Asian Champions Trophy but all three players refused to join the camp due to their domestic reasons. Later we came to know that these players were trying to take refuge in Holland. They have applied for political asylum there.'A temporary ban has been imposed on three hockey players who left the country without doing so.

The Pakistan Hockey team has banned these three players so that they can be immediately deported from the Netherlands. Help has also been sought from the Home and Foreign Ministries to bring these players back to Pakistan. The Pakistan Hockey Federation admitted that their financial condition is bad and the players are not getting money and travel allowance.
