The Barbados Royals women's cricket team has won the Women's Caribbean Premier League title for the second consecutive time by defeating the Trinbago Knight Riders women's team in the final. Indian players Jemima Rodrigues and Shikha Pandey were also playing in the playing eleven of Trinbago Knight Riders, but the star-studded Knight Riders team flopped against the Barbados Royals.
In this low-scoring final, the Royals lost six wickets while chasing a target of just 94 runs, but Chamari Atapattu's sensible batting led them to victory. Atapattu remained unbeaten till the end and scored 39 runs in 47 balls. Earlier, Aaliyah Allen emerged as the star with the ball for Barbados.
Aaliyah Aline took 4 wickets for just 21 runs in her quota of four overs. More than her wickets, her celebration caught the attention of the fans. Interestingly, Aline not only won the Player of the Match award but she also won the Best Celebration award. Aline took the wicket of the opposition team's batsman Janilia Glasgow on her very first ball and Aline's celebration after taking the wicket was really unique and entertaining.
Immediately after the wicket fell, the 29-year-old ran towards her teammates, jumping in joy and celebrating by lying on the ground. You can watch the video of her celebration below.
After the final of the Women's Caribbean Premier League 2024, now fans will get to enjoy watching the Men's Caribbean Premier League as the men's league has started from 29 August.
