Former world number one tennis player Andre Agassi will be visiting India in January 2025 to inaugurate the PWR (Pickleball World Ranking) DUPR Indian Tour and League. The aim of this tournament is to popularise pickleball in India. PWR has recently introduced a new ranking structure and the PWR DUPR (Dynamic Universal Pickleball Rating) Indian Tour and League will be organised accordingly.

Eight-time Grand Slam champion Agassi said in a video message to Indian fans, "I am excited to visit India and thrill the pickleball fans. I am looking forward to the PWR DUPR Indian Tour and League and hope it will be a great success in this country."

Who is Andre Agassi?

Agassi has won the US Open twice, the French Open and Wimbledon once each, along with four Australian Open titles. He also won the gold medal in men's singles at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics. PWR, PWR World Series (PWS) and PWR World Tour were launched recently at an event held in Dubai.

The GCC region was announced as the host of the inaugural event of the PWR World Series in February 2025.

Agassi welcomed in India

Battle of the League

Prior to the PWR DUPR Indian Tour and League, the PWR DUPR India Masters (including Battle of the League: Stage 1) PWR 700 event will be held from October 24 to 27 in New Delhi. Winning a rating in each category of Battle of the League secures a spot at the DUPR Nationals in the US, with travel and accommodation expenses covered by PWR. PWR DUPR events are approved by the Indian Pickleball Association (the top pickleball association in India), Asian Pickleball Association and Global Pickleball Federation.
