Samit, who was seen playing for Mysore Warriors in the KSCA Maharaja T20 trophy will look to step up and take first steps in replicating the success of his father. He will travel to Australia for the U19 team's tour and will look to rise from the youth ranks. He also posted a video as he was thankful to all those who helped during his journey.
Samit makes it to India's U19 side
"First of all, I am very happy to be selected and thank you for all your wishes.
I think I am feeling great, I worked very hard for this moment," said Samit in a video shared by Star Sports Kannada on X.
Samit, born on 11 October 2005 has recently caught the eye of the cricketing fraternity having made his debut in the Maharaja Trophy, a domestic franchise tournament in India. He has been working closely with his father Rahul and scored 82 runs from seven innings with a best of 33.
Despite a low-profile show he has been included in India's U19 squad.
On the other hand, Dravid will spend no time away from cheering the Indian team having led the senior side to the T20 World Cup success in June. He was the coach of the Indian team and nearly completed the treble of the World Test Championship (WTC), ODI World Cup and the T20 World Cup. However, India lost the final of the WTC and the ODI World Cup.
Dravid, however, will spend time with his son and try to get him into the Indian senior team. Samit, 18, however, will not be eligible to play in the 2026 U19 World Cup as he turns above 19. However, his current focus will be to do well in domestic competitions before moving up the pyramid.
