The 2024-25 Duleep Trophy is set to commence from September 5, featuring a revamped format with four teams competing in a round-robin structure. This year’s tournament will be hosted across three venues and promises to deliver exciting first-class cricket action as teams vie for the prestigious title.
The tournament will feature a total of six matches, with each team – India A, India B, India C and India D – playing three matches against the others. The winner will be determined based on points accumulated throughout the round-robin stage, with no knockout matches scheduled.
The four teams will be captained by Shubman Gill, Abhimanyu Easwaran, Ruturaj Gaikwad and Shreyas Iyer, respectively.
The Duleep Trophy continues to be a significant event in the Indian domestic cricket calendar, providing a platform for players to showcase their talent and potentially earn selection for the national team.
The BCCI has mandated domestic player participation in the 2024-25 Duleep Trophy. However, key figures like Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah and Ravichandran Ashwin have been granted exemptions to safeguard their fitness for the upcoming Bangladesh series.
As the tournament approaches, excitement builds among fans and players alike for what promises to be a thrilling competition.
