Mohsin Naqvi, who was elected as the chairman, brought back Babar as the skipper for the white-ball format.
According to a report in Geo News, prolific wicketkeeper-batter Mohammed Rizwan is set to take charge of the white-ball captaincy replacing Babar.
The report further mentions that Rizwan in the future will also take charge of the red-ball captaincy, replacing Test skipper Shan Masood. After resuming his second stint, Babar failed to deliver for the team in the T20 World Cup 2024, even going down to newbies like USA.
Pakistan cricket set to face major changes
Like Babar, who has failed miserably as a batter and a captain, Shan Masood hasn’t been that great in the longest format of the game.
Pakistan recently suffered a massive humiliation when they went down against Bangladesh 0-2 in the Test series at home. Rizwan, as per the report, is going to take charge as the skipper in all the formats for Pakistan cricket.
Apart from this, the Pakistan cricket team is set to undergo some major changes ahead of the next year’s Champions Trophy and WTC. Pakistan’s next assignment is a home Test match series against England but there is a controversy going around that because of the ongoing restructuring of the cricket stadiums in Pakistan. The Asian nation is set to host the Champions Trophy in February-March next year and for that, the stadiums are being renovated.
