India's medal streak continues in the Paris Paralympic Games 2024. On Saturday, September 7, a day before the games ended, India won two more medals. Both medals came in athletics, where on one hand Indian sprinter Simran Sharma won the bronze medal in the final of the women's 200m T12 category, while on the other hand Navdeep Singh won the silver medal in the men's javelin throw F41 category. With this, India's medal count reached 29, which is 10 more than the previous Paralympic Games.
The Paris Games are scheduled to conclude on Sunday, September 8, but the strength of Indian athletes was seen a day before that as well.
India faced disappointment in swimming, cycling and canoeing, but the Indian players' brilliant performance was once again seen in athletics. In the same stadium, on one side Navdeep Singh was moving towards a medal in javelin throw, while on the other side Simran was ready to set the racing track on fire with her speed. Coincidentally, the medals of both came almost simultaneously.In javelin throw, Navdeep took the lead with 46.39 meters in his second throw but Iran's Sadegh Bet snatched the first position from him with 46.84 meters.
In the next throw, Navdeep again made a comeback and reached the first position with 47.32 meters. No one could overtake him in the fourth throw as well, but in the fifth throw, the Iranian athlete again captured the first position with 47.64 meters. In the end, he won the gold and Navdeep got the silver medal. This medal is very special for Navdeep because he finished fourth in the Tokyo Paralympics.(News is being updated)
