The leg-spinner finished with figures of 16.3-2-45-5 and helped the Northants bowl their opponents out for 165 in 61.3 overs.
After getting bowled out for 188 in their first innings, the Steelbacks racked up a crucial lead of 23 runs on the back of the stupendous spell from Chahal.
The tweaker also achieved a major milestone in his career, completing 100 wickets in first-class cricket.
Chahal got to the landmark in only his 38th first-class match since his debut back in 2009. He got the wickets of Wayne Madsen, Aneurin Donald, Zak Chappell, Alex Thomson, and Jack Morley.
After his dream spell, Chahal posted a picture where he can be seen showing off the ball with his teammates clapping behind. He took to 'X' and wrote, "Nothing like the red cherry".
