Kenya's head coach Dodda Ganesh fired

Dodda Ganesh, former Karnataka fast bowler in Team India and domestic cricket, was appointed as the head coach of Kenya's men's team last month but he has been removed from his post just a month after his appointment. According to media reports

"As per a resolution passed by the Cricket Kenya Executive Board on Wednesday 28 August 2024, the Executive Board of Kenya has rejected the appointment of Dodda Ganesh as head coach.

The contract signed between Dodda Ganesh and Manoj Patel on 7 August 2024 has been rendered void. Cricket Kenya is no longer responsible for this contract and hence Dodda Ganesh has been directed to stop acting as the head coach of the team."

He got the responsibility of the head coach of the team in place of Dodda Ganesh

After the cancellation of Dodda Ganesh's contract, the Kenya Cricket Board has appointed former Kenyan cricketers Lameck Onyango and Joseph Angara as the head coach and assistant coach of the team.

The first challenge for these two former players will be to prepare the Kenyan team for the ICC Division 2 Challenge League. In September, the Kenyan team will play against teams like Papua New Guinea, Qatar, Denmark and New Jersey in this league.

After playing in that league, the Kenyan team has to play its matches in the 2026 ICC Men's T20 World Cup Africa Sub Regional Qualifier B tournament. Here the team has to play its matches with countries like Zimbabwe, Rwanda.
