Team India is going to return to action once again after a long break. From September 19, it has to play a two-match Test series against Bangladesh. This series is going to be very important for Team India in terms of the World Test Championship. Before the start of this series, Team India's veteran spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has spoken openly about his retirement plans. Ravichandran Ashwin has said that he is not thinking much about retirement at the moment, but he has also told when he will leave international cricket.

Ashwin's big statement on retirement plans

Ravichandran Ashwin spoke openly about his retirement plans during a conversation with Vimal Kumar on his YouTube channel.

He said that he will think about retirement when he will no longer have the desire to improve his game. R Ashwin said, 'There is nothing like that in my mind. I only think about one day at a time. Because when you get older, you have to work harder every day. It is not the same as before. I have worked very hard in the last 3-4 years. I have not decided to retire yet, but the day I feel that I do not want to improve, I will retire.'

R Ashwin will turn 38 on September 17.

When asked about playing cricket till the age of 40, he said, 'I know how my life changed after that difficult period (2018-20). I am just maintaining my joy towards cricket and the moment I feel that I am losing it, I will move away from it. We all play and we all have to leave. Someone else will come and do well. This is Indian cricket.'

Chance to leave Anil Kumble behind

Ravichandran Ashwin has played 100 Test matches for Team India so far. Ashwin has taken 516 wickets in these matches. He is India's second-highest wicket-taker. Only Anil Kumble is ahead of him, who has taken 619 wickets.

Talking about breaking Anil Kumble's record, Ashwin said, 'I have not set any target for myself. Anil bhai wants me to break his record, but I am happy living every day. I do not want to lose my love for the game by setting a target.'
