South Africa batter David Miller has opened up on the heartbreaking ICC T20 World Cup 2024 final against India. The southpaw felt that he had let the entire country down when Suryakumar Yadav took his catch.

With 16 needed off 6 balls, Hardik Pandya gave a juicy full toss to Miller, who could have hit it anywhere. He chose to go straight but couldn’t time the shot perfectly, and SKY took a good catch at the boundary rope.

His dismissal proved costly for the Proteas as they lost the contest by 7 runs.a

“It is hard to explain, but I was angry with myself as I couldn’t win the game. It hit me hard, and I felt that I had left the entire country down. I had left myself and my teammates down. I didn’t want to leave the field,” he told ESPNcricinfo.

When asked if he could have played another shot on that delivery, Miller said that connection made a big difference in the end.

“No, I wouldn’t have, other than maybe a better connection with the ball. I was not expecting a full toss and it caught me a bit off guard. The breeze was coming across us and not into us. The margins are small in such circumstances. I thought I had hit it cleanly,” he added.

Chasing 177, Heinrich Klaasen scored 52 runs off 27 balls. He was dismissed by Hardik Pandya in the 17th over, and it changed the game in India’s favor.
