A mega auction is going to be held before IPL 2025, for which the BCCI may soon clarify the retention rules. According to media reports, the BCCI has made a plan for this. They have made some changes in the rules under which now all the franchises will be able to retain five players each, while the teams will not have the option of right to match.
This is a relief news for all the franchises before the IPL mega auction, because most of the teams want that their core team is formed and they do not have to make many changes. In such a situation, if they are able to retain their five players, then there will not be many changes in their main team.
Let us also tell you that before this the last mega auction was held in the year 2022 and then all the franchises were allowed to retain their 4 players. In which there could be a maximum of three Indian and 2 foreign players.
It is worth noting that most franchises believe that it takes a long time and hard work to prepare a team. In such a situation, if there is only the option of three retentions, then most of the players will go to the auction, after which it will be very difficult to include them back in the team. Some of these players will also be those on whom the franchise has invested a lot and worked to groom them, in such a situation they may slip out of the hands of the team.
Apart from this, on the other hand, those franchises whose last few seasons were not good, seem to be against such rules and are in favor of forming a new team during the auction.
