Latest News :- According to Nielsen's economic impact assessment, the 2023 ICC Cricket World Cup in India has generated a huge economic impact of $1.39 billion (Rs 11,367 crore), the ICC said in a statement. According to ICC, the tourism industry has benefited greatly from this. Nielsen says the 2023 World Cup will have the largest economic impact of a World Cup to date.
The ICC Men's World Cup 2023 has demonstrated the remarkable economic power of cricket. This resulted in an economic benefit of US$1.39 billion (Rs 11,637 crore) to India,” ICC Chief Executive Geoff Allardyce said in a statement.
The report also said, “Due to the large influx of domestic and foreign tourists who came to watch the Games, the cities where the Games were held generated revenues of $861.4 million from accommodation, travel, transportation and food and beverages .But the ICC is not clear on whether this huge economic impact value is actual revenue or not. World Cup matches were watched by a record 1.25 million viewers. According to the ICC report, about 75 percent of them were coming to watch an ICC 50-over match for the first time.
The ICC report also said that around 48,000 full and part-time jobs have been created by the ICC World Cup in the hospitality sector and other sectors.
